Growing Up In Him

It is very encouraging to hear the truths that we are hearing today when we come together. If you had told us 30 or 40 years ago of these things, nobody would have believed that these things were true! Now we find ourselves ministering to each other and witnessing to things that are taking us into a realm of God that He has orchestrated for us in His plan from the beginning of the foundation of the world!

I want to look at the process God has us in—growing us up to be sons—and see how it relates to our own individual lives and where we are now. Probably, the first place you need to have in your understanding is to recognize where you are today . If you perceive you are where you are not, then you are never going to go on to attain that which God has for you.

When the president had stood on the battleship and declared victory, and then the Iraq war went bad, there were Democratic senators in congress that were saying the ‘war is lost’. They asked a Pentagon general of the United States, “What do we do now?” He made a very deep statement: “Any road will get you there if you don’t know where you are going.” He went on to explain, that in order to fulfill a plan, you have to know what the plan is, and you have to be willing to admit where you are.

If we perceive that we already have the possession of the goal that God has in mind for us, we’ll never go on to get the goal that He has for us. It is amazing at the beginning of this thing, you can have a president standing and saying, “We won the victory! We won the battle!” and three years later you are mired down and asking, “Is there any hope?” It is like the Christian experience when we first come into the church and get born again and say, “We’ve got eternal life!” and a couple of years later we are in this big warfare and battle wondering, “What happened? I thought we had it all!”

God has revealed to us a growth process that He takes us through; for in the center of all this, He is growing up a son in you and in me. He is doing it in such a way that it goes through stages of development and growth; wherein we start out as a baby, grow into a child, then into a young man and into a Father. So in the book of 1 John, he says, “I write unto you children, I write unto you young men, I write unto you fathers”.

It is very obvious to us in scripture that when you first come into this, you are as a babe, desiring the pure ‘milk of the word’. In every one of those maturing stages, when we look into the natural, we will see you do not misidentify the difference between a father and a baby; but somehow, in the spirit, most of the time we see ourselves a little further down the road that we actually are! So any road will get us there, if we don’t know where we are going and we are not willing to admit where we are!

Ephesians 4:11-24

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children (translated here as ‘nepios’; ‘babies’) , tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;

One of the things we can say that God has blessed us with, is understanding; He is delivering us from the vanity of our minds to believe that we have something when there is no evidence at all in the life.

How do you know you have what you say you have? How do you know? God wants to bring us into the awareness that if we are ever going to get to the end of this thing and be what He wants us to be, we will have to see ourselves in a process of growth that is manifesting something that will show us we are what He wants us to be—that is, confirmation! Every once in a while you get in a community and you see somebody that can’t get along with anybody—that can’t live with anybody—they are in constant conflict—“Tell me again; what life are you living in?”

18(b) because of the blindness of their heart: 19 who being past feeling have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

I want to start in verse 13, ‘Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:’

What He reveals in this passage of scripture is that in the created realm, God has two men. He has what we call the ‘old man’, which is the ‘Adam’, and we have the ‘new man’ which is called ‘Christ’. Both of these are men. When we look at them, we realize that both are created men; the ‘new man’, which is created in righteousness and holiness, and the ‘old man’, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts.

How do you get into these creations? By birth. We are not created into this world, we are born into the creation. When we get born into the creation, we do not get born into a creation that is an immature creation; we do not get born into an immature Adam and you don’t get born again into an immature Christ. You are born where you have to grow up to the measure of the fullness of the stature of that which is already there in the creation; it is programmed when you first come into this world, into Adam, and into your parents and families.

We have often been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Have any of you heard that? My wife asks me that all the time, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I think when I get to my deathbed, she will look at me and say, “Have you figured it out yet?” It is good to be as a little child.

That question is of the late 20 th , 21 st centuries—but that has not always been the case in the world. You can go back 100 years and it was predetermined what you were going to be when you were born into a blacksmith family. In many cases you not only had the name of the father but what you were going to be, so there were the Smith’s, the Cooper’s, and Mason’s; names signify a predetermined end for that “Little Johnny” that comes out of the womb and comes into this world. It is already all programmed into him what he is going to be, what he is going to be like when he gets to the end of that experience; he’s going to come to the fullness of the measure of the stature of Dad!

I grew up with a boy in school and I was not aware that his father was a surgeon and that his brother was also a surgeon; it was predetermined he was going to be a surgeon. I did not know that when we were growing up. My uncle, who was dying of cancer about five years ago, called me up and said, “You’ll never guess who’s operating on me; you went to school with him!” He told me who it was and he said, “Johnny, he’s just a kid!” He was about 45-50 years old and my uncle said, “He’s just a kid!”

There is a path for this little child when he comes out of the womb that already predetermines what he is going to be; therefore, the father has in mind for him goals that he has set along the way, for he knows he is going to be a little baby, then a child. He knows he is going to be a young man; he knows he will become a father and it is predetermined . The father has the education set out for him; he has the governors set out for him; he has all these different things set out for him.

In the process of growth, “Little Johnny” is going to go through times of adjustment and transition in his life that are going to be meeting goals, not set by him, but set by the father . He simply is going to grow into those goals, and it is going to be worked out in him based upon the goals that were set by the father.

You are never going to get me to cut open anybody—dead or alive! The thought of me taking up a scalpel is not in me; it is not in my nature! When you look at names, it is really interesting. Any of you that know me, know I love to fish and I have come to the conclusion that Basalyga means “fisher of bass”! My grandfather was a great fisherman, my uncle was a great fisherman; it is something in my genes. Just try and hold them down from fishing! I shared this at The Land a couple of years ago, and a Chinese girl there said, “That’s really what it means?” I can have a tendency to joke every once in a while, so I will raise my hand when I am joking. The old British word for “accountant” is “Giles” (spoken as John raised his hand!).

It is interesting to see how it works in the natural. There was something in the minds of those that were giving names. There was a time when fathers and mothers put a name on a child as a promise of what that child was going to be. When he came into this world, there was something in the heart of the father that predetermined, “I want him to be just like me! I want him to take on my nature and if he will follow on to know me, he will come into the same image as me! This process of being born into this world has its finality when the son becomes just like the father; just like the seed that brings forth after its kind!

As long as you stay in the program— as long as you stay in the program —and as long as you recognize ‘I am going on to know Him; not that I have already attained or am already made perfect’, but He has this process by which He is taking me on to know Him. As long as you stay in the program you will get there one day and you will actually come to the point where you are just like the Father!

I was born of Russell Basalyga, a business man, and I became a businessman; my great-grandfather was a businessman, my grandfather was a businessman; you get into this, and you realize, “Hey, there’s something there.”

We are born into the world—into Adam—and that first birthing is called, being ‘born of a woman’; the woman is a type of flesh. When scripture talks about being ‘born of a woman’, there is a hope that we are born into—‘he that is born of woman is of few days’. So with the greatest hope that we ever had, we find it ends in death! We are born with a hope of fulfilling some natural, carnal existence for a short period of time in the temporal realm.

This natural birth was given as an example that when we are birthed from on high—when we get another birthing—second birth—born again—this new birthing that God gives us will already be pre-programmed so that if we go on to know Him, it is already predestined as to what you are going to be! If you follow on to know Him, you are going to be exactly like the Father! He is going to work this thing out as we go through this and the second birthing is what we call being ‘born of God’.

I love the way that God does this, and I love the way that Brother Buddy puts it, “When we get into the ‘eternal’ we will be ‘born of God’”. How do you know if you want to be born of God eternally ? How do you know if He never gives you that experience in the temporal? So, when you were born of the flesh—He gives you your own life and says, “How do you like it? How would you like to live your own life for eternity?” That is a choice. The question is, ‘What will a man give for his life?’ The question has not been answered; we’re in the process of answering this question.

In order to get us to a point where we make an accurate decision based upon our own understanding, He brings a further birthing our way and He births us into the Spirit ; into a new creation man; the same way as when a little child comes into this world. When that little baby opens his eyes, and when he starts seeing, he has just come into creation and what does he understand and know about that creation? Nothing. Everything he gets, he is going to have to be taught; first from the mother, then he will get if from the father, tutors and governors; all are going to teach him all along the way.

When you get born again into the new creation man, how much do you understand? Nothing! How much do you “think” you understand? Everything! Now, the reason why is this: We want to compare it to the measure of the stature of the natural man that we understand, but what he says here is that we are growing into the measure of the stature of Christ. These are two things: stature and measure. “Stature” is what you are growing up in and “measure” is what God uses to see if we measure up to Christ. Both Brothers Andrew Giles and John Jeffreys have pointed this out; that the measure that God uses to measure this new creation man is called a ‘reed’ .

Revelation 21:15(a), 17

15(a) And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city. 17 And he measured the wall thereof, 144 cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

The Hebrews, Babylonians and the Egyptians each had two separate measurements for the cubit. The Hebrews simply called them the “larger” and the “smaller” cubits. The Babylonians called the larger cubit a “royal” cubit and the smaller cubit a “common” cubit. The common cubit is the measurement of a man's forearm. The forearm as a measurement was made up of six handbreadths. The royal cubit is a man’s forearm plus an extra handbreadth. The reed, which Revelation says is the measure of a man, was a measurement that was made up of six royal cubits. Therefore there would be six extra handbreadths or an extra cubit in the reed. If the reed was made up of common cubits there would be seven cubits, but it is not, it is only made up of royal cubits, the measurement of a royal man, Christ. In Christ we have an extra cubit!

Matthew 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

There is the extra cubit! The question is, “How do we add this extra cubit to the stature, because we are growing up to the measure of the stature of Christ , but this one has a higher standard and can you do this by taking thought? No! Can you do this with the intellect? No! Can you do it with the carnal mind? No! Well, how do you get that other cubit added?

The Bible answers itself—just keep looking; a little later on God wants to answer the question for you. First, we need to identify where that extra cubit came from; the extra cubit came from the measure that is in Christ! He is raising us up into another measure of Christ, and it is the measure of a man, but it is not a man like we have ever seen before. So if you want anything added you must:

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; And all these things shall be added unto you.

Now, you have come into this experience where you are born of God in this realm; do you already have righteousness? That is a loaded question. If you already had it, what would you need to seek it for? In this new creation life—this new creation man—is Christ; is there righteousness in there? Yes. Is there everything that pertains to life and godliness in there? Yes. Do you have all the capacity to be there—in there? Yes. So, if you are ever going to be truly born of God, you are going to have to start manifesting when you get started on this road; it is going to start manifesting out of you, otherwise you will be in delusion, thinking you stand when you fall, or thinking you have something when you don’t. If you never manifested the love of God, if you never manifested the righteousness of Christ – then how do you know you are? Do you know by the intellect? No! But, that is what some would like you to believe.

What I want to look at is how this development and process of our growth in Christ—this growing up to the measure of the stature of Christ—works in our life. Someone asked me when I was in Scotland, “We were really hearing this “third feast truth”; how do you break it down to where somebody that is just coming to this experience can understand it?” As I considered this question, God started quickening to me, again, the way this happens and the way this gets birthed in you as shown in I John 5. How many believe that Jesus is the Christ? So, if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, what is the conclusion in I John 5:1?

I John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Now, what is this word “believe ? Some of us read a book by Marcus Borg titled, “ Reading the Bible Again For the First Time ” or “ Meeting Jesus Again For the First Time ”, and he points out in there that this word “believe”, in the day when John wrote it, has a different meaning than we understand today. He goes into the history of the origin of the word to show that around the time of “The Enlightenment,” the word “believe” changed. The English word “believe” comes from the German word “belieben”, which means “to love”. When Jesus and John were talking about believing, they were not talking about head knowledge; they were talking about something that takes place in the heart . When it takes place in the heart, many times, it will by-pass your intellect and your heart will pick up something in belief that your mind would never believe! Borg said that what happened was “The Enlightenment” came, and Darwin started to teach, and science came up with this concept that unless you could prove something to be actually true scientifically, then until it was proven, it was not true! So they brought the word “believe” out of the realm of believing with the heart into believing with the head , and the church bought it “hook, line and sinker” so that they preach a message saying that all you have to do is, with your carnal intellect, believe that Jesus died, went to heaven and you have it all now, and when you get into “the box” on the other side, you go to heaven.

But you don’t get born again by just believing with the head , because this is not something that you do based upon your desire to want to know God. This is something He does in you by touching your heart , and when the heart believes, you are identifying with the belief that He put within you. The way He does this, in this born again process—this born of God process— is the same way in which a woman conceives of child in her womb. God uses us as a womb to birth His son in us. He comes down into the inner recesses and we have been begotten by an incorruptible seed. And who’s seed is that incorruptible seed? It is God’s seed! He plants that seed in us and it unites with something in our hearts.

In order for a woman to get pregnant, you need two things. You have to have the seed and you have to have the egg. He says the “seed” is the Word of God—the Seed of God—the same way the Spirit of God planted that Holy Seed in Mary. The Holy Spirit planted that Seed in Mary; what was born in her was Holy. When Jesus came into this world, He was birthed into a new creation man—He was birthed into it and He had to grow up into the measure of the stature of that man as well; do you realize that? He grew in wisdom and stature; stature —He grew in it, as an example to us, that when this is birthed in you, it brings you into a path that is going to end up with you being just like the Father, because it started off with His incorruptible Seed. God has the ability to see those things that ‘be not as though they were’ . The church has an uncanny ability to turn it around and call those things that ‘be not as though they are’ ! Did you ever notice that?

So you go into the church realm where they think all you have to do is believe, and now you are a son of God! It’s in the scriptures; ‘Beloved now we are the sons of God.’ But God has this ability to call “Little Johnny”, who came out of his mother’s womb, as being a surgeon when he gets to be the age. The father saw in him—he was able to call those things that be not as though they were, even though he was “not yet that”. Who is going to suggest that a five-year-old surgeon to be, could “surgeon” anybody? So, even though you are not , you are ! But it does not yet appear what we shall be for we are going through this process of growth, and He comes into our hearts and He plants His seed in us!

Galatians says, ‘Because you ARE sons, God has sent forth His Spirit in your hearts.’ Did you ever read that? Do you know the way the church teaches it? “In order to become sons, you need to get born again.” If at any point along this way, we think that we, by our intellect, are accomplishing this, God wants to show us right away that He is the Author and He is the Finisher! When we believe, we are identifying with something that He started in us, not in order to make us that, but because we are ! We used to call that ‘the glint in your parents eyes’—it is the ‘glint in God’s eye.’

Galatians 4:6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father.

Because— because we are sons , right? Now, because you are sons, in order to get that awareness of what you are, He has to birth that life within you. When He births that life within you, out of you, for the first time, comes “Abba, Father”. Where did that come from? Was that you? No, that’s the Spirit of God identifying now that you are His sons; so it is the Spirit that bears witness. Now, when that Spirit comes, wherever you were, as it was with me, the Eternal God is coming out of the eternal heavens and He is coming in to touch my life and coming in to touch my heart!

Oswald Chambers says, “This idea that your first response to God is because of conviction of sin is pseudo-evangelism.” He goes on to say that no one ever comes to God for forgiveness of sins, they come to God because the Spirit of God came in and united with their spirit and all of a sudden, they identified that the Eternal God came out of the eternal heavens and identified with you, and you cried, “Abba, Father!” You didn’t have any idea of what sin was, or the plan of redemption!

Jesus is walking along the sea of Galilee and John, James, Peter and Andrew, who are all standing there, had no idea of what sanctification was, redemption was, what any of those things were; and all of a sudden, the Eternal God is coming out of the eternal heavens and these men were fishing—they had purpose in that—and here comes out of the heavens, not explaining Romans or Corinthians—not explaining any of that—there weren’t any books of Romans or Corinthians; they didn’t understand—and Jesus said, “Come and follow Me”! Immediately, something inside their hearts jumped and leaped, the same way it did with Elizabeth! The Eternal God came out of the eternal heavens to birth new life in me; it put me in a new creation life to start me on a way, and all of a sudden , when I had this new life leap inside of me—as it says, ‘he that believeth, hath the witness in himself’!

It is the same way with a woman, when she conceives a child. The first conception is typed with that which is ‘born of water’; as when a woman conceives a child, the child is born “in water”. At that point, when you are first born again and that Seed is ‘born of God’ in you, there is no manifestation coming out of your body at all— nothing ! But, eventually it will. When that first happens, you are the only one that knows it – so I am told. Sometimes, when you unveil it to your husband, he’s shocked.

He starts you out that way; there is a literal baby in there that has just been birthed—that Christ has been birthed into a new creation—a mature, new creation man. As that starts unveiling itself—as it starts coming out—it is going to start growing up to the measure of the stature of that Man, and it is going to be manifesting a nature in it, that you did not have in your previous man—in the first birthing that you had into creation. That first man that we have does not have the nature or the character of love in it—the love of God. The love that you have is so limited; if it is anything at all, it is just “love of self”! When we are measured by the natural man, we are deceived into thinking that we will actually do things for another.

We like to say, “When I got married, I loved my wife”; the fact of the matter is, I got married was not because I loved my wife ; the reason I got married was because I loved myself . We can’t measure this thing by the standard of the natural mind.

Do you know the difference between when you intellectually know you want something and you believe you want something and it “hits” your heart? Do you know the difference between the two? I think every young lad goes through this when he’s coming up through the grades; I remember that in the 7 th through 10 th grades—how many girls do you fall in love with, ‘by the seeing of the eye’, before you get out of high school? All of them! (‘Confession is made unto salvation’ - and girls, don’t listen to this; you don’t want to hear this.) Somehow we have the ability to be totally enamored with a girl, and two days later we just threw them away and we say, “Oh, look at that one over there!”

This is where you are looking with the carnal mind and you are believing that in order for me to get married, I have to have her . You believe that! And then one day—across a crowded room, some enchanted evening—here comes “that one” and all of a sudden, it does not go to the head, it goes right to the heart! When I fell in love with my wife, my experience was that all of a sudden, something hit my heart that had not previously hit my brain. If I allowed my brain to think about it long enough, I would just say, “Love is blind”, because now I am loving with the heart; believing with the heart; actually wanting that one with my heart. We can understand this growth process, both in the natural and in the spiritual.

I often look at somebody on graduation day; they have just gone through 12 years of school and you get this impression that this is a great accomplishment of coming to the point where they graduated. The fact is, it was predestined that you would do that and you were just growing up into that, and what really needs to change, is not the stature of the individual as much as the measure of the stature, which goes with the change of mindset, or the renewing of the mind.

If you have, at the age of 18 when you graduate from high school, the mindset of a five-year-old, even though you have grown in the stature, if you don’t come to the measure of that, then you may have all of the attributes of somebody that is mature, but you are 20 going on 5! Do you know how sad it is never to come into the measure of the stature of the position that you are in? That is why Paul says, “I come to you and you should be teachers; you should be further along on this way! You should be mature and I still have to speak to you as babes!” This is because the growth process never took place in the renewing of the mind . We read in Ephesians that if we are going to take off one and put on another, there has to come a change in the renewing of the mind ! It’s in the renewing of this mind of Christ that He has given us that actually gets us to understand this process that He is taking us through; it is the same way in the natural. Every time you go into the next stage of growth, it is a very uncomfortable position.

So you start off and the work is all being done inside. The next step of being ‘born of God’ is you are born of the Spirit. The child in the womb is born of water and when that child comes through the birth canal and breathes the “pneuma”, the type now is that he is born of water and spirit. In order to enter into this natural experience, you cannot just simply be born of water in the woman. He says that in the Spirit, when you are born of water you get to see another life that you never saw before, but in order to enter into that life, you must be born of the Spirit, as when a child comes through the birthing canal and breathes air; now the child is born of water and spirit.

Now he comes into a realm where, as a child, he will suck on the ‘sincere milk of the word’ and he will get that from the “mother” that birthed him. So every one of us, when we get born into this thing, we get born unto a “mother” that was there as a tutor and a governor to start putting into us spiritual truths given by the ‘milk of the word’. So Paul says, ‘Whenever I am feeding you, I am feeding you with the milk of the word.’ Whenever you have any external ministry teaching you, you are coming under the teaching of “Mom”, who can only give you the ‘milk of the word’; that is all she can give you; that is all I can give you. If that ever turns into meat for you, it is because now you have come into contact with the Father.

There is a growing up process so that when you first come into this experience, you have a love now that is within you, that is called ‘the love of God’; that is something we do not understand if we try to compare it with the natural man, for this love of God does not ‘seek its own’. The little baby that comes into this world is only seeking one thing, and one thing only—‘its own’. It comes into this experience where it believes that the whole experience of being born again in God was completely all for me ! “ I’ve got eternal life! I am eternally saved! Look what God did for me , isn’t He great!” After all, isn’t “Mom” telling you that—how great you are? And every time you cry, “Mom” is there; and every time you need something, “Mom” is there.

Our first experience with the church is that we come to church to get our needs met , for we have not yet grown up into a measure in which there is a growth taking place in us, where He is giving us something that can supply. So our first growth is with “Mom” and as we start on this road as little babies, one of the things we need to learn to do is to ‘love one another—and to sin not’.

Do you ever notice that when John is writing in I John, he doesn’t write unto the young men to ‘sin not’; he doesn’t write unto the fathers to ‘sin not’; but he says, ‘I write unto you little children that you sin not and that you love one another.’ So the first known witness to the world, that you actually have a change of creation life in you, is when you love one another .

So you know you have passed from death unto life because I said, “Yes, I do,” at the Billy Graham Crusade? No, you know you have passed from death unto life because you come to church and “Mom” says, “You have eternal life”? No, you know you have passed from death unto life because you love one another and that is not something you can accomplish on your own; it is in the genes of Christ that as you are growing up in the measure of it and the stature of it, you are coming to a point that if you start yielding yourself to that new creation life that is in you, out of you is now going to come a love that you didn’t have before. That is why you can take a marriage outside of Christ that is completely shipwrecked on the rocks, and when you bring Christ into that marriage, God is able to raise up a love that you didn’t previously have there, where you can actually love one another! God can miraculously put it back together again, not based upon human experience or intellect, or human counseling, but based upon a nature that He put within you that is able to love, not for yourself anymore, but for the other!

So, “Little Johnny” is two or three years old and “Mom” is telling him how great he is and he loves being with “Mom”; all the attention is around “Little Johnny” and he is convinced he has everything made, because after all, “Little Johnny” is an heir. Aren’t you an heir? All things are yours! But, since you have to attain to what you have been apprehended for; there could be a little bit of a problem here!

How many of us remember that first day of school? It is called “corporate life”. All of a sudden “Little Johnny” is going to find out there is somebody else on the planet other than “Little Johnny” and Mom! “Little Johnny” and Mom are both deceived in thinking that “Little Johnny” is the greatest “Little Johnny” on the planet!

How many of us just love corporate life? How many of us loved corporate life when we first got in it? How many of us were tugging on Mom’s dress as she’s walking out the first grade classroom and we were crying, “Don’t leave me!”

All of a sudden you recognize something; this is transition! We are getting out of being a baby and He wants to grow us up. As this process goes, we see this in Ephesians, we take off one manner of conversation, or way of life; there is a change in the renewing of the mind; and we put on the next step that God has for us. So when the little baby in diapers comes into the experience where he is becoming a little child, he is going to take off the diapers; there has to be a change in the renewing of the “Little Johnny”, and he puts on toddlers clothes now, and he goes to school with corporate life with a lot of other babies—and somehow the Eternal God is going to bring us all together without killing each other! It is just fortunate, when we are four years old, that we don’t have the strength to do much damage.

So what He wants to do now, is show us the next step of the love of God; for what we are growing up into, is the love of God.

I John 2:5 But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: (or matured – that word for perfected is to “mature”).

As the love of God is maturing, it is taking on a different characteristic in every different level. This is the way this works: we are first going to love our brethren, then we are going to love God and then we are going to love our enemies.

Somehow we have this understanding, that when we first get born again that we have the ability to love our enemies so that we get this picture—if I were in Germany in WWII and they came into a Christian church with shotguns aimed at us, I would be the one that would say, “I will give my life for all my brethren” and in that, I would be loving my enemies. We have a vanity in our minds to believe that kind of love has grown up in us, and God says, “Well, let’s see if you can first love your brother.” I think, “I am willing to lay my life down for my brother – shoot me with the firing squad!” But He puts you into corporate life and says, “Now, lay your life down for one another.” But then we think, “It would be a lot easier God—bring the Germans, it would be a lot easier to stand before a firing squad!” Because, these brethren that we come in contact with, all of a sudden look like they are in competition!

In the early years of corporate life, you almost hated to see another family come for you knew it was going to have to be this assimilation all over again of having to learn to love somebody. God has this uncanny ability to put us together with people that are—as Brother Buddy has said, ‘our perfecting agents.’

God leads us to believe that He is leaving marriage in our hands because He wants to show us what happens when we make our own decisions. You take the highest possible relationship there is—marriage—and He says, “I will let you choose whoever you want to marry.” He puts that in you and then He puts it in her, and something happens and you get together—sometimes it’s 3 weeks; sometimes it’s 3 months; sometimes it’s 3 years or 3 minutes, when there is a big fight that is going on and God says, “Well, I let you choose!”

I remember that people would come to corporate life saying, “I just can’t wait to get into corporate life! I just love to be with the body—with the people! I just think it is so exciting!” They are sending stuff there; all this stuff is coming. Then they get there and you find you are running into a measure of a standard of a different man than we had when we are carnal and we find out, “Hey, this isn’t exactly the way I thought it was going to be!” How many of us remember those days? It was nothing like we imagined it to be, because what He is doing is growing us up into something and He set goals for us, and He said the first goal is, ‘little children, love one another.’

We had this woman in community—there is always one that sticks out—this lady could not get along with anybody! Anybody you have ever talked to about this lady and knows her says, “You are exactly right!” Nothing was ever right; they didn’t do anything right and she had to correct everything that was going on! She had this uncanny ability to aggravate everybody! Every time the father ministry would come through, she would be in an elders meeting! Those in the community were asking, “Why don’t you guys (father ministry) do something about it? We have this problem here; can’t you see what needs to be done?” And meanwhile, what God is doing—He has this love that He wants to grow in us so that we will be able to love one another, before the other one changes! What we want is to ‘love the lovely— it’s easy to love Brother Roland, because he loves to fish and we can fish together!

I watched this woman and I saw aggravation—aggravation—and aggravation, and I was convinced that, not only did everyone else find they could not get along with her, I was convinced she couldn’t get along with herself! Did you ever see anybody like that? They are not happy unless they are miserable! This went on for a long time; the father ministry are not doing anything, God seemingly is not doing anything, and meanwhile, what He is doing is growing up everyone around her that are willing to come into an experience of understanding, where the mind get’s renewed and one day you come to your senses and you say, “Maybe the problem is not in her, maybe the problem is in me!” What do you mean, the problem is in me? How could the problem be in me? The problem is in me because I have a love in me that is supposed to love the unloveliest and not seek anything for myself. But what I would like is for her to change the way that she is so that I could get out of my present distress! God says, “No, I have just brought you into a new creation that has a love in it that I want to prove under the most arduous, hardest—the worst situation possible!”

Then you wake up one day; three, four, five years down the road and she is still there, still the thorn, and this family is loving her, and that family is loving her, and this one is loving her and that one is loving her and everybody is loving her—and she never changed! God just brought us up into a step where now we know we have passed from death unto life, because now we love the brethren and they didn’t change – we changed!

I John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth (the most unlovely, that you never think you could) is born of God;

One day, you come into the realization that this new creation life is great! He didn’t put us into corporate life to affect the change; He put us into corporate life to reveal the change! While we are there in corporate life, which God led us into—the “Little Johnny” going to grade school, you coming into the body of Christ, you being members of a body—He has us in this growth process!

You ask this question, “Do you have to be in corporate life to have this fulfilled in you?” I do not know about you, but it would never happen if I didn’t. For me, I have to be in it; I’ve got to be there. What He wants me to realize is that, when I was going to church once a week, I had my own income, I had my own house, I had my own wealth, I had my own family, I made all of my decisions—I was going to that church believing I loved everybody in that church! I was just happy to see them, happy to go play golf with them on Sundays, to do whatever we did! If I believe that just my going to church was evidence that I loved them, when I was completely running my whole life, then God says, “Let’s test this in the body!”

So He brings us into this experience where He wants to test this very testimony that we have—that we are ‘born of God’— because He knows what is there in us and He knows what is needed in us to bring the maturity . He is the Father that is bringing us, and there is a purpose , there is a plan , there is an outworking of this, and we are coming to His purpose in this, and His purpose is that we love each other before the other one changes!

Then one day, we find ourselves loving and you turn around and you find out she is changing! If you knew this lady today, you would say, “You are not the same lady!” Everyone that knows her agrees!

The evidence of everything God is doing is going to manifest in your mortal body; everything God is doing will be manifest so that the whole world can see. If I were to go to my community and I would have everybody write down the strengths and weaknesses of John Basalyga and then I were to write down the strengths and weaknesses of John Basalyga, I would find that everybody in the community would generally have the same list, and there would be my list that would be a little bit different than everybody else’s. This is because we have the uncanny ability to see ourselves a little different than what our body is manifesting.

I have been in situations in community where you have (hear me right; in a balance, for I do not have anything against health foods; I don’t eat any of them, but I don’t have any problem with them) people that God is speaking to them not to put any sugar in their coffee, and they can’t get along with anybody! God has spoken to them to go on a “carrot diet” and they are living in strife, division and envy; I go them and I say, “Let me see if I have this straight, please tell me and show me where I am wrong here. The Eternal God came out of the Eternal heavens and spoke to you to eat tomatoes and carrots and take the sugar out, but He didn’t speak to you to love your brother. Is that what you are trying to tell me? I am not sure what God you are serving, for I deal with a God who I think is going to tell me it is important to ‘love one another’ before I put away the sugar out of my coffee, as important as that might be.”

We have these religious ideas and concepts of what this is all about and God is trying to grow us up where there is evidence and a manifestation of love, one for another, because love is the evidence of it! If we say, “Oh I love God!” Well, nobody can love God whom they haven’t seen until they can love their brother who they have seen! So He puts us in together and says, “Now let it work!” He that loves is ‘born of God’ and that is the “little child” stage.

The next stage this “little child” is going to go into is the “young man” stage, so the apostle John says, ‘I write unto you, young men.’ We read in 1 John:

I John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

The next stage we come into is where we are keeping His commandments, and when you are keeping His commandments it is evidence that you love God. So when John says in 1 John 4:20, ‘no man can love God whom he has not seen if he can’t love his brother who he has seen’ he is not saying we are not called to come to a place where we are actually loving God. What he is saying is that in the progression of maturing, the first thing that is going to be manifest is that we love our brother .

When we are children, God will wink at the sin that still so easily besets us, because He is not so much dealing with all of the intricacies of the sin in our life, but He is dealing with this nature that is within us that needs to be renewed to where we are actually loving one another. This is what you see in I Corinthians 13 where Paul starts talking about “agape” love—the charity. As babies and little children, God winked at our ignorance because we were not yet manifesting that kind of love, for it had not yet been perfected; it had not yet grown up to that.

God has goals for us; the first goal that I think most of us have come to, who has lived in community for any length of time, is that we love one another. You see this around the world; you go into the communities now and there is the large majority loving one another! We have situations where people were just at odds and they now love one another, and in some cases you have to actually remind them that they didn’t love each other at one point!

Fred Vanderhoof used an analogy one time that if someone was very angry with him and hit him with a stick and knocked him down as he was walking down the road, he said the next time he was getting close to the brother, he would have a tendency to walk away from him. If the brother came to him and apologized, and it was all right, yet there would still be something in him that would react, ‘once bit, twice shy’ for none of us really enjoy getting screamed at by a brother; we have a tendency to “keep our guard”.

We need to forgive; yes—we need to forgive, but there needs to be a change in the attitude and manifestation in that person because I can forgive you and the next thing, you come and hit me with a stick again. How many times are we supposed to forgive, ‘70 times 7?’ That doesn’t mean hit me with a stick 70 times! I am going to learn to avoid that. But God is working as time goes by, and let’s say the guy doesn’t hit you with a stick for a year, two or five years down the road; five years down the road you may have to have somebody come and remind you, “Do you remember the time that he hit you with the stick?” Then I say, “No, I don’t even actually remember that.” Why? Because we are growing up and we are loving one another; we are not holding things against another for what happened 20 years ago.

God has brought us into a maturity, realizing that we were all babies, we were all little children. Now we are coming into a realm where God says, “What I require of you is—do you love Me ?” How do you show that you love Him ? ‘He that is born of God, does not commit sin.’ How do you not commit sin? You do what He tells you to do . Therefore, you get into a hearing relationship with Him. This hearing relationship is not a bunch of verbal words that are being spoken, ad nauseam—“Do this! Don’t do that!” That is not the way it works! There is a sensitivity to the Spirit—a sensitivity to the Spirit that you know when you are pleasing God; and you know when you are not pleasing God and when you get into that realm. You grow into this sensitivity!

At 12 years old, you do not have the same sensitivity as when you are 18 years old—or you better not, for there better be a renewing of your mind—because every step along the way, we are putting on the new man and we are putting away the old! We do this in successive growth patterns, therefore there has to be a renewing of the mind ! Most people quote that scripture, “Put off the old man that is corrupt according to its deceitful lusts and put on the new man” without putting what we read in the middle there, ‘ and be changed by the renewing of your mind’ . The renewing of the mind is where the growth takes place in the knowledge and the understanding of what God is doing, so now we are putting on His mind and we are putting off the carnal mind. When you put off the carnal mind, you come into a way in which the body starts to manifest a completely different life.

Romans 8:5-6

5 They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Let me ask you what you understand regarding the soul. Sometimes I think we get this understanding—that the soul, which we are, has the ability to manifest an identity by itself. But really, the soul is only a servant in the house that can only manifest whatever spirit it is yielding itself to. So if you yield yourself to the Spirit of God, the soul will take on the characteristics of, and be transformed by the Spirit of God; if your soul (your life) is yielding itself to unclean spirits, then the soul will take on that as well. The body will manifest whatever the soul is yielding itself to.

When we come naturally into this world, we build up a characteristic in our natural bodies, by the natural things that we do, which appears to be our identity. And we “think” that is “us”! But this is only a temporary experience. Is that “ you” eternally? Is that your possession eternally? It had better not be!

When we come into Christ, the same is true—what the body is now going to manifest is an evidence of who you are yielding yourselves to obey. Once we are born again, the mind that you have in your soul can be either carnally minded or spiritually minded. The concept that we have of a ‘double minded’ man is not correct. You are not doubly minded; you are either carnally minded or spiritually minded. To get into the place where you think you have both minds—those people are in insane asylums for they can’t sort out the two.

When we come into this experience, He wants us to see that the old creation life had a carnal mind in it – the new creation life has a Spirit mind in it; one is the mind of Christ and the other is the carnal mind. He wants to bring the mind of the Spirit into our experience in our soul so we are spiritually minded and follow after the Spirit.

Romans 8:6-7

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

That is why you will never believe that Jesus is the Christ with your intellect and carnal mind; these have no power to keep you at all . You will just use your belief as an “insurance policy”. You go to church and you hear, “All you have to do is believe!” Do you know that the devils believe? And they do not believe with their hearts! The only difference between a “Christian” that has no life of Christ in him and the devils, are that the devils ‘tremble’ and the “Christians” do not.

Romans 8: 8-10

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Before you were born again, was your body alive to you ? Yes, your body was alive to you, but you were dead to God, so you lived according to the dictates of the body. When the Spirit of God comes in you, He cleanses you and puts His Spirit in you, He restores the soul, and the body—though it was dead—not because the body sinned, but because the soul sinned. When the soul sinned, it passed to the body and the body became dead because of sin. God has this miraculous way of saying, “Now, through the Spirit – if the Spirit abides, I am going to be able to also quicken the mortal body.”

Romans 5:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

It is your mortal body that He is able to quicken, by you now living after the Spirit! If somebody knew you 20 years ago, when you were in the flesh, and they know you today, if you have been walking after the Spirit, they are going to say, “You are a whole new person!” Your mortal body is now quickened to manifest a different life than it was manifesting when it was dead in sin! God is saying, “Here is the evidence of it; it is in your body!” That is why He keeps us in this temporal body in this temporal realm; He says, “How do you like this life now?”

You will never be able to choose which life you want unless you have access to know what both lives are! So we know what it is like to be born into this world; we are born into a “hope of death”. When we get born into Christ, we are begotten unto a ‘lively hope’ and that lively hope ends in—‘he that is born of God, is now eternal’!

The way He shows us this, is to give us that experience while we are still in the temporal created realm. In the temporal created realm, He brings us through the process whereby we are born of God in the created realm, not as a possession but as an imputation, to see if that is the life you want to live in for eternity .

There is a difference between being ‘born of God’ in the created realm and being ‘born of God’ in the eternal realm . God would never put us in an eternal position based upon someone else choosing it for us. He wants us to choose. Eternal life is not something that takes place when you get born again; eternal life is something you get by sowing to the Spirit. ‘God will not be mocked; whatsoever you sow, that shall you reap.’

So flesh and blood, being born again, does not inherit eternal life. You have to get into the resurrection to inherit eternal life. The resurrection is something that gets “put on” , the same way as the little baby puts on toddler clothes, then the toddler puts on young man clothes and the young man puts on the father’s clothes. You are also going to “put on” the resurrection by sowing to the Spirit. It will be the last stage in the development of us coming into an eternal purpose, because it was worked out according to God’s plan and purpose. We will have come to the measure of the fullness of the stature of Christ—not by our own workings—but by us simply growing up the same way a natural man simply grows up and does what the father says to do. The natural is such an easy example to see how this works.

The last stage in this temporal existence is found in I John 3.

1 John 3: 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; (that is the young man stage) for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

As Jesus was growing up in the measure of the stature and He was going through all these transitional periods, there are two points I want to make here.

Point #1—Where is the ultimate government that God is looking for in His sons? Is it external or internal? Internal; if it is internal, what is it? It is the Spirit of God, for all the sons are led by the Spirit. Before we get to that point, what God provides for us, is ministries—fathers and mothers to teach us and keep us in the way, to not only be there as an example, but as one that is raising us up.

In the process of transition into these different growths, when someone is in the age range of 16-22, the transition of going from a young man into a father is a very uncomfortable transition, not only for the young man, but also for the parents. And generally speaking, which of the two has the hardest time seeing the growth, the children or the parents? The parents.

It is sad to say, but some never grow from the stage of being a “young man” into a “father”. If God is ever going to grow us up, we must understand what it is to be led by the Spirit ourselves! It is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom! When we come into an understanding of maturity, we are not only in great jeopardy, but also in great hope! With great jeopardy comes great hope, and with great hope comes great jeopardy and the closer we get to this, we realize that God wants to hand this over to us. God wanted to hand it over to Jesus, but God is not going to hand it over to Jesus until He proves Himself in these successive stages; He has to go through being under tutors and governors; He has got to learn obedience.

Point # 2—But there comes a day in which He is going to come out from underneath His natural parents and the natural government that God put there. When God is ready to transition Him to be led completely by the Spirit, He is going to come to the previous government that was in His life and He is going to say to her, “Woman, what do I have to do with you?”

When we read that, it looks hard. What was happening there was a change of government taking place in His life, to grow the son up to where God could prove Him with the things that belong to Him, to see if He would stay in the place where He is still not seeking anything of His own, but only what the Father had. That is a hard place—that is a very hard place.

All of us that have had children grow up—when is it that you want to release him? In some cases you never want to release them. You find that, as they are growing up, the ‘renewed mind’ in the 18 year old is, “I have come to the place now, where I should be able to have my own car and drive it whenever I want to; I should be able to go where I want to, however I want to.” In their mind, they are growing up to believe they are coming into their own, but they have never connected the fact that Dad still pays for the gas and Dad still pays for the car! In this transition, there needs to be a working together with Dad and Mom and your desire to want to show yourself mature! Does that identify with everybody? Yes! There has to be this “working together”, because if Mom and Dad were the only government in our life, telling us what to do when we were five years old, and are still doing it when we are 35 years old, something is drastically wrong!

I remember when my first daughter, Sharalyn, went out the door to college; this girl has in her the ability to do everything from “know God” to “I do not know what is going to go on with her!” There came a day when she was going to college and I had to believe that the Spirit of God had been working in her for the past 18 years, so that I did not stop the development of the maturity in her and so that she could see what is in her.

If we, as elders, continue to keep “the order” as evidence that we have a “good”, “ordered” and “well run” community, and God and God and God wants to pull it back a little bit; do not be afraid that what you are going to see is something that you don’t want to see! Trust that what you have been teaching them is in their hearts and is going to come out of them, so that when you take “the order” down, now they can rejoice in their own! This is a hard step—a hard step.

I see a transition coming. We used to hear, “I’m going to be led by the Spirit! Who are you to tell me what to do?” That was rebellion! ‘Every man did what was right in his own eyes’ and that was rebellion! Now we are coming to a point where there is submissiveness; we are loving one another; we are doing these things and God wants to take us on to a different step.

God is going to take Jesus out of that experience where He was under His Father and mother and under tutors and governors. God kept Him under them for a while. And now God said, “I’m going to give you a little bit of power”; and Mom, stand out of the way, because if you don’t, I would hate to see what would happen! This is a hard lesson to learn.

We are dealing with an eternal God who is taking us on to the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ; He is taking us on to perfection. There is not going to be any external ministry that is going to stand in the way of this thing! If you do and if I do, we are standing in the way!

I look at Sharalyn today and it was hard when she wanted to become a scaler who measures wood. She went down to southern Ontario for schooling. She came back after she had learned scaling and I saw pictures of her rappelling down the side of a 200-foot cliff! “Sharalyn!” She could have come home all broken in a box! “What are you doing out there?” Dad wasn’t around to tell her, “Don’t do that!” “Do this!” “Don’t do that!” I found I was thinking, “Let them go! Let them go! Let’s see what’s in them!”

These men here at this convention—I tell you that I so appreciate these fathers! Brother Buddy and I are like father and son and we know the relationship. In all the years when this “kid” was telling “Dad”, “I’m ready! I’m ready!” Challenging “Dad”! He kept saying, “Keep yourself. Keep yourself.” At some point, I think both of us woke up and realized that maybe the “kid” grew up a little bit.

If there is not seen a manifestation of growing into maturity, the relationship will always continue to stay in a baby and child relationship and you will never let them go on to fulfill what God has for them. The very thing that you think you are doing to protect the life, you are stopping it!

You work with the child and say, “OK, you can have the car but you are going to put in 50 percent of the gas.” They say, “Oh! You mean there’s some responsibility that I have in this thing?” Yes, the responsibility that you have is ‘he that hath this hope in himself’—let the elders purify him? No! Let him purify himself !

We can all identify with this because we have all been there either on the child end or the parent end. We’ve all been there!

He that is born of God, first, has the witness in Himself; then he that is born of God, loves; because he that loveth is born of God. Then he that loveth goes into the second stage because he keeps himself and he does not sin; he is keeping the Father’s commandments. Now Jesus is going to come for 3 ½ years into an abiding relationship with His Father where He cannot sin because He is born of God.

You need to hear that by the Spirit because I am not saying that there was not a way in which He could have been drawn out and tested and tempted because of that carnal nature that was in His flesh. You cannot take this scripture, ‘He that believeth is born of God’ in this created realm and not follow it through with, ‘The seed that abideth and remain cannot sin because he is born of God’. You cannot take the beginning and the end and apply one scripture to this created realm and the other scripture to the eternal realm. It all applies to this created realm.

You have to see that there is an abiding relationship that you can come into with the Father Jesus; Jesus is actually our Father.

(John Basalyga was asked to go over this again and he continued…)

There comes a time after you are loving one another and after you are keeping His commandments that you know to be His commandments to you , that you come into an abiding relationship with Christ; you know Him on this side of the resurrection.

Paul got to the end of his life and he said, “I have fought the fight; I kept the faith.” He was not sinning. If you are in an abiding relationship with God, can you sin? No, you cannot, if you are in an abiding relationship ! Keep yourself! Keep yourself! There is no sin in Christ .

When you are a little child and a baby, you are going in and out; you are going in and out; when you’re a young man, you’re going in and out; you’re going in and out. That is why in this growth process, we are encouraging each other and we are not deluded! What does the scripture say? ‘…not as Gentiles in the vanity of their mind.’ We do not think we are somewhere where we are not!

So in 1 John it says:

1 John 2:13(c)-14(a) ‘I write unto you little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.’

Who is ‘Him that is from the beginning? That is Christ! ‘That I might know Him in the power of His resurrection; being made conformable unto His death’. This is the last stage in this life that we are going to come to, when we find out that there is an abiding relationship that I can be in; not only with Him; this abiding relationship will also put me in the same relationship with others who are in that same abiding relationship. That is a great place to be!

In that place, do you know what God is able to do? He is able to let us disagree with one another on a doctrinal level and still keep the love of God and still not sin! We are able to do that in God! At that point, you can love your enemies, because I am required to do what He was required to do and that is, give yourself to a world that could care less about anything that God wants to do! Now you have laid your life down for your brethren. As He laid down His life for us, now we lay our life down for the brethren.

He brings us into this maturity—this abiding relationship—and we say, “This is a great experience!” When Jesus got to this maturity, we recognize that what He needed to do was to obtain that abiding relationship as an eternal inheritance where it was actually His possession . Because ‘now beloved are we the sons of God, but it doth not yet appear what we shall be’. Right now it has all been imputed to us and we are manifesting that growth in our lives as we go along. All He wants us to do is be honest where you are .

If you say, “God, I’m still a babe,” when we get to the end of this thing, it says, “Woe unto them that are with child and give suck.” You better start growing up! It’s time for the children to become men; it’s time for the men to become fathers!

Paul said in Hebrews 6, ‘We are going on into perfection.’ In so doing, we are going to leave some behind, because we can’t continue and continue to lay the principles of the doctrine of Christ if we are going to fulfill this thing.

We are hearing a word today that says we are in transition and we are going into places where no man has ever been before as a body of people. There have been singular ones who have done this along the way, but God has never done this in a company or body of people. We know that we are getting close because it is being witnessed in a body of people who God is bringing in. They have a relationship that is not based upon carnal understanding with each other, but a relationship that is based on a living, vibrant relationship with Him and we are actually growing up; we are actually growing up to be fathers.

How exciting that is! How exciting to preach this to a group of people and they know what you are talking about. The eyes light up! “I know what you are saying!” This sure takes it out of the realm where “all I have to do is believe that Jesus died for my sins and I have eternal life.”

If we have hope only in this life, we are of all men most miserable! We have a resurrection that we are looking forward to, as we are being planted in the same kind of death as Christ. The world looks and says, “What a waste for Jesus, after 3 ½ years, to go to the cross!” And this was the very thing that actually brought us into what we are standing in today!

If He hadn’t done that, we could not be here today, as He is a father who is bringing forth many sons just like Him and growing us up into that same nature. It was predetermined when you were born again, that you are going to be just like Him. You are not fulfilling this thing on your own; you are just coming into the different steps of growth that God had prepared for you from the foundation of the world!

As a great heavenly Father, He is saying, “I’ve brought you through “that” and you are loving; I brought you through “that” and you are growing!” He that began the work can finish it and He can take us right into the ‘eternal weight of glory’ where we are born of God! Then we will be there where we can never sin because it will be our eternal possession!

Thank You, God! That I might know Him! That I might know Him! Not that I have already attained or already made perfect, but I follow on to know Him as I am even known! Amen!
